The shop opens on November 27th!

Welcome to the Chewelah Artist Co-Op

**********************************

This is our virtual community craft fair!

We're excited to make this holiday season a much-needed success for Chewelah's incredibly diverse artists, artisans, and makers.

Check off your shopping list by purchasing locally, handmade gifts. When you do this, you're supporting the artist too. So, it's like giving two gifts in one!

What kinds of things can I sell through the co-op holiday fair?

Great question! Obviously we encourage you to submit handmade art and crafted items, but we have so many talented creatives in town that we didn't want to limit things too much. So, here are the types of items we thought local creatives might want to consider offering:

  • Art & Crafts - This category is fairly self explanatory. Sell your beautiful work!
  • Books - If you have published a book, share it in the co-op. If your book is available on Amazon or elsewhere, you can even link people directly to the page to buy the book there. Just put the link in the description of the book when you fill out the submission form.
  • Experiences - You could offer to make someone a home-cooked meal, teach someone how to make your famous recipe, take a group on a huckleberry picking (blindfolded, of course). Go ahead and get creative! You can create a flier with all of the details & contact information and drop it off in an envelope for each customer. Or, if you'd prefer, you'll be able to contact the buyer directly via email to finalize any details. Just let us know which of these delivery methods you'd prefer in the description of the item when you complete the submission form.
  • Food - Maybe you make beautiful cakes, Christmas cookies, bottled sauces, jams, preserves, etc. We do ask that all food sold through the co-op is prepared in a commercially approved kitchen.
  • Gift Cards - Local businesses are welcome to offer gift cards or package deals in the co-op. After the sale, please put each gift certificate in a separate envelope for each customer.

What information do I need to submit an item for sale?

You'll need a name, description, pricing, quantity, and photos. The submission form linked above allows you to upload as many as 5 photos for each item. At least one photo is required.

I have so many more questions!

Of course you do! Check out the Seller FAQs. Maybe we've answered your question there. If you, you can email chewelahcoop@gmail.com or call/text Larah Ritchie at 506-675-8556 (preferably between 11am and 6pm).

How do I list my items?

To send us your listings, go to this link and complete the form for each item. We will accept new listings until Dec 12, 2020

How do I get good photos of my stuff?

We found this article with some great tips for how to get great product photos at home using your smartphone. Read it here.

The NEW Creators' Workshop has a small photo booth that makes it even easy to get great photos using your smartphone. Click here to reserve time to use their booth.

How (and when) do I get paid for the items sold in the co-op?

Our goal is to have the checks ready for your items when you drop them off. If a late order comes in, you may be paid for that item during the following week's drop off. Chewelah Arts Guild has kindly volunteered the time to manage the payments for the Holiday Co-Op. The item submission form will also request your mailing address in case the Arts Guild treasurer needs to send a check in the mail.

How do I deliver the items that were purchased through the co-op?

You will be notified by email of any orders that have been placed for your items. The notification email will include the pickup date your buyer has selected.

You will need to bring ordered items into the NEW Creators' Workshop before the customer's selected Pickup Day. We will be open to accept drop offs on Fridays from 2pm - 6pm and on Saturday mornings from 10am - 11am.

On Thursday's we will stop new orders from processing for that week's Saturday pickup, giving you (at least) a full day to prepare and drop off your items.

What else can I do to make things as easy as possible for the buyers and volunteers on pickup day?

If you will provide packaging of your items like a bag or box please make it easily opened for customers to review their items. Please put the email notification or customer information on the outside of the package to minimize handling. If your item is delicate or fragile please note this on the outside as well.

What needs to be included in the items when I drop them off?

Please bring each item in with the printed order notification email attached. If you don't have access to a printer, you can clearly label each item with the customer's name, phone number, and order number.

What if I can't drop off an item in time for the customer's pickup date?

If this happens please let us know as soon as possible. We will need to let the buyer know that their item won't be there on Saturday. We will probably suggest that they can pick it up the following Saturday or, if need be, we will coordinate with you and the buyer to facilitate another pickup time. Please be aware that there are a limited number of volunteers. Asking them to coordinate individual pickup times for several orders is unrealistic. To make this as smooth as possible, please do everything you can to have your items ready.

What if I need more lead time? Can I take pre-orders?

Yes. There is a place on the form to let us know which pickup dates you want to be available for your item. We understand that you may not have everything you'd like to sell ready right now. But that doesn't mean you can't take orders right now. You can specify which of the pickup dates you customers to be able to choose when they order.

For example: Maybe you want to sell cakes, but you won't have access to a commercial kitchen space until Dec 16th. You can submit the cake with a description and photo, specifying Dec 19th as the only available pickup date. We'll add it to the store & you can get pre-orders. Then you'll know how many cakes you need to make on the 16th.

Shopper FAQ

When will the virtual shop be open?

We'll open the shop for online sales on Friday, November 27th. This is the same day that the Chamber of Commerce's 12 Days of City Sidewalks begins.

Where will I pickup the items I purchase?

Look for the bright orange door on 3rd between Main & Clay. Behind the radio station.

What are the pickup dates for the holiday season?

When you place an order you'll be asked to choose a pickup date. Pickup days are Saturdays in December (5th, 12th, & 19th) from 11am - 3pm.

When all of the items in your order have been dropped off by the artists, you'll get an email letting you know that your order is ready for pickup.

What do I need to bring when I pick up my item(s)?

When you place an order on the website, you will received an email confirming your order. Please bring that order confirmation email with you when you come to pick up your order. If you aren't able to print it the email, you can also open it on your smartphone and simply show the confirmation email to the volunteer at the pickup desk.

What COVID-19 precautions are you taking?

We are taking great care to protect our most vulnerable community members.

  • Everyone is required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth the whole time they are in the building.
  • Do not gather inside with others who are waiting to pickup their items. Maintain at least 6 feet distance, inside and out.
  • We ask that you wait outside until the person before you has left the building. This will ensure we don't have too many people inside the building at once. If it's cold, you're encouraged to wait in your car with the heater on.

If you cannot follow these protocols for whatever reason, please let us know in the comments when you place your order. We can provide curbside pickup to accommodate you, but we'll need to communicate with you directly to coordinate that.
